WEALTH GAP BRIEFINGS LAUNCHED FOR GENERAL AUDIENCE

The Mind the (Housing) Wealth Gap project has launched its Briefings Series. Wealth Gap Briefings are non-technical publications aimed at a general audience who may be interested in questions around housing wealth and wealth transfers. These short Briefings clarify complex topics, debunk wide held popular myths and contribute to public debates.

Dr Beverley Searle and Dr David McCollum kick off the Briefings Series with their paper entitled “What is equity borrowing and who is doing it?”. This first paper in the series provides a concise overview about the phenomenon of equity borrowing and how it is used in the UK. Other forthcoming papers in the series will deal with topics such as equity release, intergenerational justice and asset-based welfare.
